I have never grown purple asparagus. I'm going to put in an asparagus bed next spring, will have to plant some.

I heard purple passion does not retain it's color when cooked but so it contain it's tenderness and sweetness when cooked. To me if it retains it's nice tenderness and sweetness it is still better than the green.

Wonderful comparison video. Question: How many years did you let your asparagus plants grow before you harvested any? I planted a few asparagus plants last year and a few spears have already popped up and started leafing out. I wish I could have harvested some this year, but I know they need a good deal of time to get established first.

Do the Purple Asparagus remain purple in color for very long after harvesting? Stocks and spades? Does it take two years for them to turn purple? We bought some purple asparagus seeds and the plant is green. The seller says that only the spades are purple and only for a short time. And during the 2nd year.

U always have space you just have to be willing to rip out what doesnt perform to your satisfaction. The sooner you do the less regrets youll have later.

i had originally purchased PP crowns as I couldn't find any UC-157 at the time but you have to watch out for Ebay sellers. I went through the trouble of planting crowns and waiting and nothing came up - that's when I finally found some UC-157 and put those in the ground. Definitely get from a real nursery and watch out for cheap imports that are DOA.

you were making me feel bad about my 157 until you said fresh eating vs cooking. I generally stir fry asparagus, use them in all asian dishes
