Houses should be seen as homes, not bloody investments.

Black Rock keeps buying apartment projects and affordable housing. Stop giant corporations from buying affordable housing and raising prices.

Show me a politician that is willing and wanting to fix an issue, without also lining their pockets and filling their coffers in the process

The problem is every time there is a proposal to build new houses there's about 5 years of committee meetings mostly caused by locals saying No, before even a single brick is layed

The fact that politicians have any control over the housing market is the problem.

It's not entirely the Middle Class doing this, it's also some of the upper class and rich oligarchs (not typecasting all) doing this with their property portfolios . I agree with Konstantin to some extent but not fully.

Imagine blaming the middle class that can barely pay their bills when it's the mass of corporations and upper class that are gobbling up property and sitting on it.

I am middle class. I don’t care about the price of housing since I am in one and will just pay it off. But yeah, the prices have to go down and they will. No one can even afford these prices at 7-8 pct interest. People are stubborn and want to sell at the prices from 2 years ago.

Yes, and who think it is unfair to give housing to homeless people for doing nothing, and the working class have to pay for it.

It’s not that we middle class punishing politicians for wanting to “solve” the housing “crisis”. We just don’t see communism or the insane tax burden as the solution.

All you have to do is stop the printing presses, and let things sort themselves out.

The cost of housing is going up, not because of middle class home owners, but because there are more and more people who need shelter everyday.

Here in New Zealand it is a mass immigration issue, with few new houses being built to house all the new arrivals.

He's spot on about how we got a bubble. The problem now is that all of the western world has such a balloon in real estate that any correction turns into a crash.

My eyes opened wide to the whole scam when my dad bought a $70k truck and paid it off in 6 years and I bought a $70k house for 30 years and the monthly difference was only $220!

If governments really wanted to they would start a Dept.of Housing and employ persons who have construction skills and just build 2 and 3 bedroom houses and sell them for maybe 10 percent over actual cost. The only problem being that nobody can get rich that way so it will never happen.

No politicians should ever try to raise or lower the price of housing.
There will always be something unintended by such actions.

The value of housing DOESN’T go up!!! The never ending printing of dollars, makes money worth less!!!
1970: $25, 000=
2023: $175, 000

He's spot on. Thatcher made housing a commodity and it's become a nightmare for millions. I'd like to see the market brought down and kept down.

The only way to stop the housing crisis is to stop negative gearing. Why should people get tax benefits for owning multiple houses. There are thousands of houses/units sitting unoccupied.
