If your so called "church" tells you to turn your back on your family, that is not a church. They are NOT persons of God

It's amazing how many JW's deny they shun ex members - but they are encouraged to shun, and not even say "hello" to former members.

My ex husband did this then died a few years later... Its a sick Org because its not a religion at all. God dont teach u to hate.

I am an ex JW. Too scared to tell my mom that I don’t want her pamphlets or her daily scripture text messages. She’s still a very devout member. It’s sad. This is a cult. And they tear families apart and pedophilia runs rampant among this organization. I’m a victim of it.

Absolutely they shun. They even divorce their spouses over it. As was my case last month. My wife left me the week after the 2016 convention. We had already agreed I couldn't attend. She returned home for a couple of months only to leave again last fall to avoid any holiday activities and because as she stated I was being "mean" to her. Which means I no longer agreed with the Watchtower's teachings. Filing for divorce in Feb 2017. Two weeks after the divorce I was grocery shopping and we just so happened to be walking down the same isle. She turned her head as if I didn't exist. Just to make it interesting, I looped around to the check out isle to be extra positive I would be in full view and just to watch her squirm. As she checked out she tried desperately to focus on the register in front of her. As she walked past AGAIN. I said "Hey"...Then I flipped her a bird. She said "Oh! Nice to see you too." I said "Do you mean the first time you walked past me or the second time?". This is a woman that I was married to and close to for 15 years. Right up until the Watchtower decided we shouldn't be married anymore. They are an evil cult. I live for the day that the Watchtower crumbles. Then finally they'll get what they deserve. Absolutely nothing....

May not be the biggest fan of Dr. Phil but props for him tearing into this poor excuse of a man.

Dr. Phil is absolutely right about this. It's not God telling him to do this, it's just some guy that he's never met before in some city that's interpreting God and what he says and what the Bible says telling him to do this.

Unless you are or were a JW, you cannot respond to this. As you do not understand what sacrifices they make to be saved. Sacrifices they make without question or any thought concequence to family or freinds. Mind control atbits peak efficiency.
You need to know what it means to be a JW. It is soooo far out of a non JW’s comprehenshion.
It will truely make you shake your head.

Over a fairytale 🤨It’s toxic. It’s called emotional blackmail people. Any religion that divides the sanctity of family is a cult

I don't discuss religion or politics. It is my opinion, however, that if a person is that deep in sin, then they need the church/Kingdom Hall, and support from thier religions members more than ever. Being shunned or temporarily cast away doesn't help the sinner on bit. Hell, we're all sinners. Some of us just get caught.

From a psychological standpoint, shunning shows the world that the prig doing so has a narrow view of the world around them and that they possess no conflict resolution skills. When elders and and people in the congregation cannot...will not speak out against a sex offender because the victim "did not have 2 to 3 preferably male JW's watching it that do not involve law enforcement" and tell the victims to keep their mouths shut and not to call the police otherwise they will be shunned, I consider them all equally guilty of the crime. I don't want to associate with criminals or those that participate in this criminal activity. It is seriously shameful, low class, and uneducated.

In the UK, this organisation is being investigated re sexual abuse. They are taught to distrust police ect. Even when kids tell parents and they report it, the elders do nothing.

If you look at sexual predators .. and the profile of a shunner they are same ...

They also cover up paedophilic activity within the organisation and find it unnecessary to inform the authorities

I don’t know how the whole treating a disfellowshipped spouse goes, but I knew of a sister who was gonna talk to her disfellowshipped (now reinstated) husband about going somewhere to another witness couple and everything was fine. So if that was my spouse, we’re still gonna talk, have fun, make love, etc. What God has yoked together, let no man put apart.

Matthew 10:34-37: "Do not think I came to bring peace to the earth; I came to bring, not peace, but a sword. For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Indeed, a man’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever has greater affection for father or mother than for me is not worthy of me; and whoever has greater affection for son or daughter than for me is not worthy of me." -JESUS
