I’ve had same model blower for six years. I go through at least ten pins a winter. Just finished clearing drive after heavy snow and drifting from 60mph winds— changed out 5 between yesterday and today. I keep a 10mm wrench and ratchet in the storage bin with a fistful of pins. Pain in the butt.

Once you get the right shear pins and don't draw them up so tight snug..

Your video made me laugh. Not that you had those lousy pins to work with, but the fact that you called it all BS. It IS BS and, if it happened to me, I would have been throwing F-bombs throughout the whole video. BS is too tame an expression of the frustration we all feel when the pins break. Good video. Thanks for making it.

I found out with my brush cutter that the quality of some bolts are too weak for the equipment you may have. I got a third party bolt for my J.D. cutter and the broke as soon as the unit was turned on. When I went to the dealer and got some from them and put one in the unit worked for a season before breaking again. They are going to do that, but you should get some use out of them before they do break.

Any idea how you replace the rear shear pin closest to the impeller on the shaft?

How do you really feel about this winter? lol. Let us know how the correct pins work in a future video.

Pins are too soft. The constant pressure from the auger going through the snow just eventually weakens them and sheers them off. I eventually put bolts in mine. .. I know I run the chance of breaking the spindle but I have more of a chance of setting the tractor on fire and shooting holes through it to put it out if I keep breaking shear pins every day. Knock on wood I haven't had a problem since and that was about 2 years ago...

I know it's not what the video is about, but did you have any issues adding the rear chains with the 4 wheel steering?

That movie was a horror flick bud! That sucks to have all those problems with a brand new machine, good luck with her!

You just need to order less snow I think ;)

I suppose it would be a lot better if the pins didn't break and the entire blower was destroyed. Changing out a few easily accessed bolts is so time consuming.

Your tightening them to much . Weakening the bolts. They are soft to begin with

You're causing your own problems

Use bolts and nylocks, JD shear pins are too weak, a grade 5 bolt will break. L
