Let's discuss the ASUS Vivobook 17' M712D! A Review!

Keyboard / Trackpad:
Keyboard is full size, non-backlit. Keys are tactile, and you can type fast without a lot of typos. Not as firm feeling as on Yoga, but still controlled. Trackpad is not the worst ASUS has used. Likely you'd get used to it. Ghosts a bit, is a bit small, no advanced multigestures.

Who's it for?
Non-profits needing a big screen, beginner accountants, productivity and data entry. Beginner audio editors; podcasters. Anyone needing a big screen in an inexpensive package.

I have this laptop, I like it. The key color/contrast is not good at all (but I type without looking). Overall, almost 1.5 years in, I'm very happy with it.

Just bought this laptop and couldn't figure out the backlit keyboard situation. Watched your video and it clarified it for me. Unfortunately, BestBuy (where I bought the laptop from) advertised a backlight. Gonna have to return it.

These are $380 at Wal-Mart but with only 8GB of RAM, which of course is 6GB of usable system usable RAM. That sounds a little on the slim side but so far it's doing everything I need it to do. Changing the Performance Options for Windows to 'Adjust for best performance' freed up about a gig of RAM in the performance monitor.

I just bought mine 2 months ago. I am now trying to get ahold of ASUS to address the fact that the SSD took a crap and is no longer detected in BIOS. Got the blue screen of death and done. Very frustrating. I love the computer, over all, for my everyday use.

My parents bought me this in August, I tried to use it. I only have 1 app now (just bing). I cleared the memory 8 times yet it still says “not responding”. I got falsely advertised for backlite. Someone please tell me what to do! I don’t even know if I could sell it, I’m so sad I made my parents spend money 😢

and i was going to upgrade from my 15 to the 17 glad i saw this first. it sucks no back light i only paid 300.00 some change for my 15 and got a back light.

i bought it a couple days ago and the brightness its a little bit too low even on the highest level I tried calibration also but it doesnt change so many things it stays in this dark condition even if a calibrate it and i saw even worse after calibration so i just do reset again i dont know what this is all about ...
