That's an old desktop Royal typewriter. Those things were made for serious typing. Looks to be war-era or perhaps directly after. During WWII, civilians weren't able to purchase typewriters as all production was reserved for the military.

That empty pickles jar is nothing compared to the Unique thrift stores around here which sell half-used bottles of shampoo! And you could stick that dirty Apple keyboard in the dishwasher and then sell it on eBay for $40!

That newspaper about Queen Elizabeth II might be really interesting, now that she's gone. I like historical stuff like that.

You have the best friggin' Goodwills, man. I'd say that if any one within 50 miles of me has a SINGLE video game, it's a miracle. I've NEVER found anything at a Goodwill. I will occasionally find stuff at the local independent thrift stores, but even that is rare.

That first shop is big compared to the charity shops here in England. And filled with exactly the same sort of stuff. Thrift shops may be my biggest jealousy off America.

There used to be a Goodwill in my town but they closed it a few years ago. It sucks because I used to find some pretty good stuff in there, I once found a complete copy of Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete.

You know what? That Puss-in-Boots thing could become something real cute. Just have someone give it a contemporary redesign - or better yet, base it on popular cats like Shiro or Maru, and then sell it on Etsy or something.

The Goodwill stores down here generally suck and aren't nearly as organized as the ones you went to, a particular one in my area seems to make up prices for their games on the spot. Tried to get a few games the other day and the lady started to say they were $3 each (which has generally been the normal price at every Goodwill I've been to)and then it suddenly went up to $5 when she saw XBOX on the cases, she then became puzzled when I told her I didn't want any of them. I would've shrugged it off if the games were in better condition, but I was taking a risk at $3 since some of the discs were scuffed up.

I much prefer going to Salvation Army and have built a respectable original XBOX game collection thanks to them, hell I scored a modded XBOX for $20 from a SA earlier this year which helped begin my XBOX game hunt frenzy.
