Was David Mitchell forced to abandon the purchase of a new arm chair mid transaction because the shop assistant used the term “well jel” and “amazeballs”? Series 6 Episode 8.

This show is a masterpiece. It’s so charming, banterous, kind-hearted, witty and so very British. What’s more, every single guest who comes on is hilarious.

Lee knows David too well. He knows David would be to awkward to reject a transaction halfway through just because of those things. He might get irritated, but not enough to leave.

"Oh good.... THE ARMCHAIR ROUND I'VE BEEN HOPING FOR!"

I've watched this episode I dunno how many times and this still gets me 😂

You knew it was a lie the moment said "He had poor customer service."
"I respect people with poor customer service.. ""This is a horrible train. Your ripping tickets. Of course your in an awful mood.""

David is always lying when he makes this ‘trying to recall’ face at 0:56

I love the use of "forced to abandon" as if there was no choice but to not buy the chair given the circumstances

I think my life is complete now that I’ve heard Mr. Carson say “amazeballs”

Lee is very astute sometimes, he knew it was a lie immediately but by having Jack explain the terms first gave David the chance to spin a decent story

A totally legitimate reason to let a purchase fall through *shakes angry fist*

As a collector, I can confirm there is a Chesterfield Chair, known as the Chesterfield Club Chair - to match the sofa design, there is also the Queen Anne Chair by Chesterfield - a high back arm chair. In addition to these there is also the Captain's Chairs that where originally made by Chesterfield, and the loungers which are technically chairs. They also made dinning chairs but real Chesterfields are very rare as are original Queen Anne Chairs, by which I mean rarer than real Chesterfields are in general. Most "Chesterfield"s seen these days are later, or even modern, knock offs.

I knew it was a lie. The man has great tolerance and patience.
He sat on his ass for 3+ years waiting for Victoria Coren to become available again. Which is proof he's got good taste as well!😁

Might have commented this years back, but still, props to the wilty team for getting us a clip of David Mitchell saying "amazeballs" 🤣

Anyone noticed that Lee secretly helped David here by asking Jack Whitehall for the definitions of the words, so David couldn't blow the whole thing by getting them wrong?

I think the hardest part to believe would be that David would be buying a used chair in Holborn

We were never supposed to hear Mr. Carson say amazeballs.

Funny thing is i could actually picture David doing that if it actually happened lol.

I will say with some confidence, after watching only the first 20seconds, that this is either the most 'David Mitchell' real scenario or the most impressive lie that the writers have come up with for him! 😆😂

I knew it was a lie when he said second hand. I cant see David buying second hand furniture.

The way Lee went “But if you’re really fat, then-“ and the joke got cut off just made me laugh 😂

David Mitchell and the Armchair sounds like either a Roald Dahl story or the working title of J K Rowling's next fantasy series.
