Is this just me? I’ve checked in a suitcase that cost MORE THAN MY SEAT. As in it would have been legitimately cheaper to buy the seat next to me and out my suitcase on it

I'm pretty sure you forgot the "stair/jetway fee, " the "sober pilot fee, " the "working aircraft fee, " the "taking off within a week of your scheduled departure fee" and the "oxygen fee"

"middle seats by the toilets are free, but they're all taken"

This is just classic airlines right there.

Through Spirit Airlines, I found out that check in had a charge RIGHT BEFORE it was my time in line. I yeeted out of there, checked in online, had my phone as the boarding pass, and checked in my luggage online. I avoided those fees by 2 minutes 😌 Also, I always carry empty 1.5 L water bottles with me, so then I can refill after security

I got a $60 Spirit flight from NC to FL to meet my bestie and her family there for a trip. My backpack has never been an issue being a personal item before, but the Spirit employee kept looking in my direction, whispering with her coworker, and made an announcement like ever 5 minutes about how everyone with an "oversized bag or backpack" needs to come up to the desk, check it, and pay for it. I stupidly pretended I didn't hear. While we were boarding, it seems like she was getting everyone for their bags, including small purses!!! There were like two people ahead of me when she swapped out with another employee, and when it was time to scan my boarding pass I put my backpack on, faced the employee directly so she couldn't see my bag, and then booked it down the ramp after my pass was scanned. 🤣 I was NOT paying $70 dollars for a small backpack that I could hardly even fit my dang socks in to.

Exactly! Airlines are charging for every little thing now (almost as bad as the video!). Extra charges for Food, luggage, seat fee, if you want to change your flight, airport taxes, landing taxes, fuel charges, government taxes … so a fare that looks really good at first is really high by the time you get to the end.

This is so true! Much better to buy tickets from a medium-cost airline shortly before you leave. They always lower the prices then.

The extreme of fees parody. Pretty spot on feeling at least.

So true😲 Got charged a $10 fee for asking "is this check-in?" Lady behind the counter told me to use the Kiosk and pointed to them. When I looked at my charges there was an "Information" charge of $10 💸💳😖

As a European, I'm used to having reserved seats before even getting to the airport. I've never had my the check-in desk ask my parents what seats they want (and we've always flown economy).

And then you realize that you could've rather gotten a business or first class ticket from a nice high cost airline...

Exactly! Budget airlines are not really "budget" after all with all those hidden charges. 😂 Sometimes they even end up being more expensive than a regular airline ticket that has everything complimentary.

Ah I love the convenience fee. I even went to the airport to buy it directly from the airline once since it was a "website convenience fee" but they still charged me the damn fee because they booked the ticket through their own website at the airport.

I don't know how it's in the states, but here in Europe, and I live in a non EU country, low-cost airlines was a blessing, especially when we were students, travelling on a very tight budget across Europe. And I personally never experienced any issues at all, so I just don't completely understand all the jokes surrounding low cost airlines

I actually found out by accident how true this video is. Whenever I fly domestically, it's always been budget tickets for me.
So in 2019 I bought a normal economy ticket. It was a short flight of less than an hour, but we were served food! And we're given water bottles. Also checked in luggage was part of the ticket instead of added/complimentary. It felt like an international flight, and honestly was worth it.
For comparison, on my budget flights I had to pay for check in luggage, buy food mid flight (water was also for sale), had to accept whatever seat was assigned to me (I usually paid extra for window seat), and the various taxes added when it was time to pay...

Flew with Ryanair on a six hour flight recently. Total cost:

Check in Luggage: 50 euro, could not bring a surfboard as luggage so total 120 euro.

Check in fee: (yes, this is a real thing) 50 euro per person, per flight. 200 euro

Hand luggage: 20 euro per person, per flight. 80 euro.

Plus about a 100 euro for the flight. Ended up costing nearly double from an all inclusive airline...

Never fly low cost Airlines lol

So true. Working for a budget airline. I don't know what's up with other airlines, but you can easily get a £20 return flight within Europe but will have to pay over 100 bucks if you want to change name and there is pretty much no refund except when the flight is cancelled or has a big schedule change.
