House passes bill to avoid a shutdown

The Republican-controlled House passed a short-term bill to avert a government shutdown, just hours ahead of a deadline that would force U.S. troops, border patrol agents, air traffic controllers and millions of other federal workers to work without pay during the holidays. The legislation now heads to the Senate, which must pass it before 12:01 a.m.

Just to clarify, for anyone thinking there was a 40% pay increase, that was a false statement made by Musk, the actual figure is 3.8%. Now of course many people will have an issue with that figure as well but its important to not just believe anything that Musk says. The Congressional Research Service report states the the amount earned would increase from $174, 000 to $180, 600, a 3.8% increase. Musk got the 40% figure from a hypothetical statement in the report stating that if the pay had increased by the Employment Cost Index formula since 1992, then for 2025 the pay would increase to $243, 300. So Musk took that hypothetical figure and ran with it, rather than posting the truth which is a 3.8% increase. Don't just believe anything he says or posts.
