I have lived in the US, Japan and China. Japanese are in a weak position to handle propaganda. In the US, 8 media companies control 90% of what Americans watch, read and hear. Still, they can dig out truths among lies if they wanted to. However if such truths are in the English language, very little will reach the Japanese. Bookstores in Japan do sell translated copies of Noam Chomsky and other “leftists” authors but that’s about it. The US has had a tight grip in Japanese politics since end of WW2. Jazz, heavy metal, Harley Davidson, pilot jackets, Barbie, diners, are chic in Japan. Frozen is 4th and Titanic 3rd in top grossing movies. Propaganda works brilliantly without much need for English. NHK for instance has been completely anti-China since Obama’s Pivot to Asia more than 10 years ago and “unfriendly” even before that because foreign policies and their execution are handled by the CIA which practiced standalone agendas. The basic principle is paint a picture in the public minds that the US is the good guy.
The two boys appear to be well educated students. Their ways of thinking seem close to Chinese students. The ladies are less biased than their fellow countrywomen perhaps they have watched, read and heard less anti Chinese propaganda thru the years. The senior ladies has a sharp mind to recite news programs headlines.
Regarding manners, it is more of a cultural gap of two extremes. There are still Chinese tourists traveling for the first time so they are bound to not being aware of behavioural differences. On the other hand, Japanese manners also represent the other extreme. In the trains for instance, people talk and use their phones in the US, Europe, China but not in Japan. Japanese put out particular types of trash on particular dates of the week, which is unique in the world. When they don’t find ashtrays on the streets, amazingly they produce wallets ashtrays from their pockets!
Lastly, after 4 years of being a keen YT browser, I have yet to see a single foreign vlogger in China who didn’t praise China in his or her videos, and there are hundreds of them be they expats, students or tourists. To be fair the same people might be just as positive if they were to stay in Japan instead. Not once have I heard about the problems mentioned in this video. That is a very strong proof that anti-China sentiments are manipulated by propaganda which to a lesser extent also true the other way around. For example, I would bet the CIA has a say in when Japanese Parliament members should go visit the Yasukuni Shrine to pay tribute to “war criminals” for the purpose of agonising China-Japan relationship so that the US may benefit. Among many things Japan is doubling its defence budget to play along with the US.

"Do you think China has any reason to harbor historical resentment towards Japan?"

Of course, no one mentions Unit 731...

So i also highly suggest you making another episode to interview Chinese people about the same question' why dont Chinese people like Japan'. ~vice versa~ you know what i mean~☺️

The reactions to the "historical resentment" question are simply jaw dropping.

It's kind of scary how little the average Japanese person knows about their history, specifically about WWII. China DEFINITELY has historical reasons to dislike Japan! Of course that is all in the past but they should still be aware of it.

Congrats on 10k!

If to be short Japanese people dislike Chinese people because their manners at public are different. It's all just about cultural differences.

Can you make a video where you ask anyone you pass by if they have foreign ancestry?

As a Chinese American, most of my Japanese friends (these are educated people from top universities in Japan) didn’t known anything about the Japanese war crime in WW2 towards China and Korea. Sometimes I will tell them but it’s a very uncomfortable topic. Yes - agree many Chinese tourists has bad manners. That’s the environment they grew up, nice guy came last, cut the queue bc that’s the norm. The many of the good Chinese values didn’t get destroyed in the cultural revolution. For instance, Chinese and Japanese never place chopstick vertically on rice, treat elderly with respect, the true message is subtle (or hidden meaning), many many more. Chinese lost lots of traditional values during cultural revolution. To survive in China in since 1900, its survival of the fittest and cut throat hustle.

Having studied both cultures and meeting an abundance of Chinese and Japanese people, I would pick Japan as a place to live in - all day! Having said that, not all one and a half billion Chinese people are all the same! It’s not fair to generalize them.

The good thing is from my observation Chinese in general don’t care what these people think, especially from Japanese for their continuous worship of war criminals. I mean will you respect the opinion of people that have lost credibility?

Unlike Nazi Germany's government which was dismantled or partially exiled to Argentina, the Japanese post-war government remained mostly of the same folks as the Imperial government. Shinzo Abe's grandfather was a war criminal who ruled over occupied Manchuria and was nicknamed "the Monster of Showa". The right wingers of Japan see WW2 as a failed expedition instead of something to be guilty over.

For the people that don't understand why the Japanese people don't talk about ww2..it's because they weren't thought about it in school or about the invasion of China, I saw a guy on halloween in Osaka cosplaying as Adolf while other people were giving the salute, they have no idea about what Germany did or what happened, but the past is the past, Europeans and Americans don't hate Germany now because the German people living today had nothing to do with WW2, just like the Japanese people living today, that's why Chinese people should stop the hate towards Japan, Japanese people are some of the kindest and most polite people on the planet.

All the negatives can be said about any foreigner, letting food to waste being annoying in the train and not following the rules can br attributed to aby foreigner but the real cause of the results are the media push to make people believe that only the Chinese are being rude while ignoring others that make the same mistakes while in Japan. Funny how the lafy mention not buying any fiod that came grom china but the LDP is crying for china to accept their fish....

I don’t know how often I encountered rude mainland Chinese tourists. I really hope they behave better, not just in Japan but other countries they visit too. I’ve travelled more than 30 countries and almost every country I visited, people hated mainland Chinese tourists who were disrespectful to the locals. It was very annoying that in some countries people automatically assumed I was one of the bad mannered Chinese tourists just because I am East Asian.

What is fascinating about this is that if you changed the title to how Japanese ppl feel about Americans, all their answers would apply. Messy, loud, chemicals in food, etc. but Japanese, from what I’ve heard, like Americans. Really depends on perspective

I'm shocked about the lack of education all the Japanese people have about there own history. There is still Huge resentment towards Japanese people in China and the feelings run deep.

Your channel is a huge threat to those big channels that only discuss "dating" in Japan. I like your content very much.
