I thought all knives bend when trying to stab Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Bought this for $7.50 today. I was wondering why it was so cheap. Now I know why. As someone who doesn't own this on blu ray. The fact that it came with the blu ray version makes me feel like I didn't waste my money though.

There's literally nothing wrong with the 4K version. I think most will prefer it and very few will be able to even identify the seemingly YouTube-wide criticisms. The clarity and colour just pops in a way it hasn't before! Shame no Atmos, though.

I know it doesn't apply to this particular film but in reference to film studios "upscaling"
That should be illegal. I'm not even Joking. It's literally false advertising.

Because it's Not possible to 'upscale' the film. What people don't realise is that the reason we have 4k Blu-rays of older films which look good, is because the actual analogue print of the film is a very high resolution.

Digital is actually so far behind analogue and every time we upgrade digital, we need to take the analogue print and transfer it in order to get the resolution we want.

You can't take a 1080p digital image and Just try to upscale it to 4k..
You have to get the analogue print and make another transfer in 4k.

For example, IMAX 70mm film is equivalent to about 16k, from what I've read.
We obviously don't have 16k discs. So they transfer the film onto a digital 4k copy to distribute..

When we eventually have let's say 10k, we then need to take the original IMAX print and transfer it again to a 10k digital format, which still won't be as good as the original print.
But the one thing you *can't* do is Just take the 4k digital transfer and try to upscale it to 10k because it's Just Not genuine.

* I only bring this up because Jeff mentioned how Lionsgate does it, knowing that they are charging people more for 4k discs that are literally No better than the regular Blu-rays and I think people should be aware of this because it's literally a con.

Heavy DNR on this. 2015 BD is best transfer with no DNR so grain is intact. The Canadian release has all the commentary tracks too.

I like it when special effects are updated/upgraded in a new release. AS LONG AS THEY ARE OPTIONAL ! Shows like Star Trek and Doctor Who do it right. The new effects are present IF you want them and not there if you do not.

I am all for getting rid of bendy knifes and seeing that it was a stuntman, instead of Arnie. Some people look for faults and then moan when the faults are corrected. WTF do you want?

I still love the 4k version because i love the movie.

You're complaining about James chaining small details that we probably didn't even notice when we watched the movie and if you hadn't mentioned it we probably would have never noticed that the 4k version has made those changes.

BD doesn’t contain the old transfer. It is the newer 2017 transfer with heavy DNR and CGI alterations.

The extended version that’s included isn’t in 4k either. I think that’s BS, especially since they had time to work on this release. 😑

Correcting the stunt-man's face with Arnold's and fixing the bent knife were actually improvements. You can always just pop in the old dvd or blu ray if you want to see the original.

This transfer is defintely different from the blu ray versions. Seen the entire movie. The color timing is changed but i enjoyed it. DNR is applied and the resulting image is smooth but i did not see any loss of detail. In fact if you see robert patrick's face you can clearly make out scars that could not be seen in any blu ray versions. Also the DTS HD is defintely a remaster and averages over 5.5 mb/sec. It is totally immersive and i found it even better than the german 7.1 DTS HD master and the Skynet edition 6.1 DTS ES HD matrix versions. Yes they could have pumped it upto Dolby Atmos but they would defintely be rereleasing it when Terminator 5 hit the theatres. Overall not a bad 4K but i wont spend my money yet.

I just feel like people complaining about the lack of fucking grain in a movie need to get a life. I have it and it looks fantastic.

Glad i found your channel and love the content!

I would love to see The Abyss in 4K! It's another James Cameron movie that released in 89' or 90' if i remember. Hopefully Cameron won't change anything in that and give it a proper 4K release than he did with Terminator 2.

personally i think it's neat. i just wish they also had an un-altered version of this in 4K to go with it.

Although I agree that I would also prefer that the film be left unaltered, because to me those "mistakes" are a part of the filmmaking, at least those CGI changes weren't as glaringly in-your-face, distracting, and awful as the ones in Star Wars though...

I like my 4K copy...considering I picked it up for $10. Yeah, the new color tones and heavy DNR aren't to most people's liking including mine. It doesn't "feel" like Terminator 2 filmed in 1991, but instead they emulated how modern movies look. But 4K is still 4K and this is the most detail and clarity we've ever gotten with a T2 release.

Being such the Terminator and Schwarzenegger fan that I am it’s sad to hear everyone not really impressed with this 4K release. I’m still going to pick it up and give it a watch. Thanks for the honest feedback 👍🏼

I honestly don't get the hate I think this looks absolutely amazing. I have both versions I prefer this one.
