The day before churches were shut down in Sydney, we very quickly recorded, with a very reduced and socially-distanced St Andrew's Cathedral Choir, several well-known hymns and psalms. We hope to share more shortly. We hope that you find them all useful in this difficult time when churches are unable to meet. Please feel free to share this or incorporate it in your online act of worship by downloading it. There is no copyright due, if you use it for your online services during this time. If we can help your scattered congregation, then we are really grateful. Please put an acknowledgement where it is from: 'Courtesy of St Andrew's Cathedral & Choir, Sydney, Australia'.

A person could awake on Sunday morning, get dressed and go to services, hear only this, and it would be enough, entirely enough.

For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, He is to be feared above all gods. Psalm 96:4

Smart to record these before the evil draconian lockdowns came in. God bless you for recording these to bring hope to people during the evil times.

I love the sound of children's voices, especially when they do these soaring descants.
Good job boys, and kudos to their director.

The little blonde boy is so cute, but you can tell the conductor is trying to lower his volume! Haha

this was the processional for my wedding. I learned this hymn in German at 3 years old in Frankfurt and have loved it ever since

If the words of this song were in me every minute of every day, I'd never have a bout of depression, loneliness or sorrow ever again. I'd be at peace with my enemies. The music and singing is awesome but the lyrics are IT!

It’s the boy’s descant for me! His voice is like a sharp sword piercing through the heart.

1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!
Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,
join me in glad adoration.
2 Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;
sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!
Have you not seen all that is needful has been
sent by his gracious ordaining?
3 Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
if with his love he befriends you.
4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.
Let the Amen sound from his people again;
gladly forever adore him.

The song is composed by the German pastor Joachim Neander (Lobe den Herren, den mächtigen König der Ehren). The Neander Valley (German: Neanderthal), was named after him, and this, in turn is the namesake for early humans.
