I wanted a lot of new stuff that never ever existed before also, but Ableton has given us something very very useful, the ability to take a musical thought and transform it into a musical composition faster than ever before...and with less technical distraction and mental interruption. And while some things have existed before in other DAWs they are exponentially better inside of the Live workflow.

the audio engine is that part of the daw which processes the audio signals, adds your channels and directs them to the master and as well bounces the finished track.
