I don't call that an upgrade but an update and it should be free. Live standard to Suite is an upgrade, not live 11 standard to live 12 standard. About the roll just get 'Sculptor' live device and it's free

I love Ableton, but I've always secretly wanted FL's piano roll. Definitely excited for the new MIDI tools and Roar looks pretty amazing, as well. Thanks for the insight :)

For me, V10 was the last worthy upgrade. V11 was really about the release of Push 3. It didn't have any features that were useful for me. Now with V12 being released soon, I feel the same. The £169 (UK) upgrade price is far too expensive for what we are getting. It definitely wasn't worth it for V11 and it most definitely isn't worth it for V12. I really do think Ableton have ran out of ideas.
When you compare to the Cubase upgrades, which are half the price of Ableton, and see what you get, Steinberg's price is very reasonable.

Glad i just bought it a couple days ago on Thomann.. it's $199 for standard, and $433 for suite...plus you get the free upgrade to 12

Great video! I think Live 12 Suite owner upgrade was on sale for $183 instead of $229. I mean that’s still a chunk of change but I think the features are really nice. Especially the mixer being on the arrangement view. I like the generative stuff for drumming too.

I’m more interested about the CPU usage and RAM usage. Hope it’s better than 11

I like the changes and I think there will be a few more changes, before it drops next year - improvements. Being an excel nerd, I prefer the Live look and feel over other DAWs and I also like less Window popups, when trying to access different things. I also run dual monitors, so I've always had my mix channels open in session view, above my main monitor. FL has done some cool things in their last releases and keep in mind, those are free updates to existing users, which is awesome. If FL could clean up the interface (and I know, some people love it), I might switch over to the dark side. Cubase 13 has been looking interesting too. Being a Windows user, I don't even bother looking at those other two DAWs, you know who you are. I like the Live ecosystem, but its not a cheap one. I've been a Suite user since 9. Lately it feels like my NI stuff is not interfacing as well in Live, so I may opt for a new Push controller soon.

The live of a programmer in Berlin is expensive so get out there and buy Live 12 😂

Howdy Will! The generate is pretty goofy, but really excited to jump into and play none the less. I love the new tab feature for M4L devices, gives a direct option for those really groovy devices made out ther! Overall not the largest update, but I am warming up to it, honestly looking forward to all the piano-roll updates :) Make life a bit easier, ohhh cant forget having the view of both session, and arrangement! IT BANGS! lol

Nope not worth the upgrade, get it together Ableton this isn't an upgrade its a slight amendment that should be free .Beware your loosing clients to other daws

Finally a step closer to a library more usable as in Logic and GB, but I still can’t believe that they didn’t add a drummer plug-in like in GB, where you can just choose style, genre, a pattern and most usefully (in my eyes) just press „follow“ and it plays along the track you choose. If this was included I might have understood the price…. Kind of frustrating

Does it cost the same amount to upgrade from v.10 or v.11; or is the price incremental based on what version you are currently running?

ima stay with Live 11 for a while, until they bring FL studio piano roll to Ableton! :p

I stopped using Live 11 suite yesterday because I think they are using planned obsolescence with their updates. Since 12 went up, updates have been coming out more than ever, which crashes the software. Yesterday, I was working on a big track. Out of nowhere, everything just froze up or just crawled. I was working with JUST audio files for the first phase. I am now unable to export any audio individually, by channel, or save as a who project without the program crashing and closing. I'm back on FL now. I feel that if I paid the 230 to update, all problems will go away, but there is not much I am looking forward to in the new update.

Is it worth for the price they're asking?

Don't get me wrong, those are nice additions. But if you''ve already used and bought lots of Max Devices with Ableton 11, the upgrade price seems too steep .

I hope they offer more and more about mixing solutions ( auto compensate gain in track channe like Volume Buddy), one click wizard to setup parallel processing, more return track, native unmask freq tool etc
