I work at giga Texas and all I’m going to say is they have already began with the construction for the new production lines for the new model Y.

If FSD was linked to your Tesla account rather than the car I'm sure they would sell a lot more FSD packages. Would think it easy to do.

The render of the rear of the "Juniper" MY looks great. The leaked pic appears to show a reflected rear light bar offering a much more attractive, difuse look. Hope this comes to fruition.🤞

Taking delivery of our Model Y next Monday. So glad that ours will have stalks!

I’m really hoping that, after owning it for a while, we’ll begin to understand why owners apparently _actually like_ Tesla removing valuable features like radar and ultrasonic sensors, and tactile-feel controls like stalks, apparently just to save a few bucks. Radar and ultrasonic sensors work in the dark and fog, unlike a vision-based system, so that’s a basic loss of function.

Even functionality aside, as with 19-22-inch wheels, I don’t see that any of this even _looks_ better. And don’t get me started on the yoke instead of a normal steering wheel: It’s an solution to a complete non-problem.

Seriously, please feel free to explain to me why this all is supposedly an improvement, other than for cost-reduction. The only possible benefit I’ve seen so far, specifically for cramming all controls and displays onto a complex, multilayered touchscreen interface, is that not having a binnacle in front of me may be a little less distracting.

Still, yes, I agree that it’s the best EV, and best car for the money (at the current low price), so no regrets. That’s why we bought one! Plus, yes, from driving a PHEV since 2017, the concept of burning crap to go places grosses me out. Nevertheless, why do Tesla fans keep putting these functionality losses into the + column of their spreadsheets?

I work at the giga Austin and I’m not confirming this design but we are assembling the new model Y. 10/10

If stalks make a car look outdated - then I’m all in for the outdated…

Can’t wait it will continue to be the best selling car 😎

I have one of the first Model Ys (VIN ~3600) and would consider upgrading now if the new version was released. I am particularly awaiting the ventilated seats as there are quite a bit of other updates since then. The longer it takes though the more likely I am to go or wait a little longer for something else (looking at you Rivian R2).

Yeah I’m sold, after seeing that I’m definitely gonna wait!!!🤭😁

Sales are slowing so perhaps the refresh is coming sooner.

Hopefully with this refresh they actually upgrade the battery in some way. No major upgrades to battery capacity, energy density, or charging performance in years is a bit disappointing.

Can they please update the cell charging to have the entire surface so different cell phones can be charged! Also, illuminate the door handles.

It’s now basically August… Elon saying “not in 2024” can mean we see a Model Y as early as 5 months when January 2025 rolls around. The Y is now as common as a Camry and it’s a guarantee Tesla wants to make it exciting again as soon as possible. This time next year the new product will be definitely on the streets.

High chance the lightbar will be used to signal other drivers if the car is on autopilot mode or manual. (as per upcoming regulations)

Good to know about depreciation. My car depreciated over $5k in just a month.

If it matters, there have been led r.g.b. strips for model 3 n y for years. 2021 i put one in about the same location as tesla did now.

Fun lil diy project under $100. You can also pick from a few rear screen diy setups if that matters too.

Personally im waiting till fsd is transferable before i buy another tesla product.

I own a '24 model y and have driven the highland model 3, but to be honest, there isnt that much of a change in my opinion, yes the lights are different, maybe cooler, and there are some lights in the interior (that no one uses). I find it pretty strange that the Tesla community goes wild on some lights while Audi is ahead and much further on these features, and design wise out of this world. But no-one really talks about it. Model Y is a hell of a great ride, let me be clear, wouldt go back anytime soon

Looking at the leak of the back i have some speculative thoughts. The picture really does not seem to suggest the same tail lights as with the highland. I actually think they might try to remove the tail lights and leave just the light bar. This way you have 2 less parts of the car and the lightbar can do the same job assuming it uses rgba leds. This simplifies the construction significantly and eliminates the need for tail lights. The clear part below the lighbar might be reverse lights, as the lightbar might not be bright enough or they might be required by law. Either way i do exepct some suprises :)
