I review, breakdown and explain Paradise Episode 7. I discuss the 2025 Hulu and Disney+ show created by Dan Fogelman which stars Sterling K Brown as Agent Xavier Collins after discovering the president was killed. I give my reaction to the opening scene which connected to the cuban missile crisis, the ending with Sinatra revealing that Teri was alive, us seeing the day the tsunami hit with the nuclear warfare starting, Ryan’s death, Agent Robinson being introduced, Xavier leaving Teri and the identity of who killed Cal Bradford being hinted at. I also give my theories and predictions on episode 8, the season finale.

This was an absolutely incredible episode, I was so tense and anxious the entire time, amazing performances by both Sterling K Brown and especially James Marsden, that’s as good as I’ve ever seen him, I feel like he should play roles this serious more often. Both really should be shoe ins for Emmy noms even for this episode alone. Wonderful stuff.

It's helpful to see that X did, in his way, to Marsha what the President did to him. He gave her hope and lied to her when he knew there was no hope, likely for similar reasons. He wanted to make her feel good. He wanted her to stay calm so he could do his job and focus on his own priorities. He wanted her to think he was a good guy. He didn't have the power of knowledge that the president had to make his actions as devastating, but I hope at some point he's able to find empathy for Cal given his own micro experience.

Best episode of a show that’s been my favorite from the start! It was so intense I held my breath on and off while watching everyone deliver the greatest performances. Amazing and I wanted to high five them all! Well done!!!

This episode is so crazy. I watched it in the library, and I was so shocked with the tsunami sound wave.

Such an awesome series!! It wins on every level. I could go on and on but remember this, the obvious villain is not always the villain.

When this episode finished, I turned to Deb and said that this was the best episode on television I have ever seen. A few days have passed, and I still feel that way. But don't just skip there, make sure to enjoy the whole season. Here are my other 3 favorites, that I have never forgotten.

My old number 1: Gunsmoke: Episode with Richard Widmark about a gunslinger trying to leave the business. Saw it way, way back then.
Always my number 2: The Twilight Zone: Episode about the devil in the closet. They told her not to open the door.
My number 3: The Twilight Zone: Episode about needing scissors in the elevator.

I’ve never watched ANYTHING in my life that was paced this good. My god, that was that some of the best shit I’ve ever seen. And I’m as picky as they come when it comes to film. The acting, dialogue, score, pace, the shots, the stakes. One of the best episodes of TV I’ve EVER SEEN.

I love how this episode recontextualizes a lot of small details from earlier in the show. The flashbacks always showed them talking about things falling apart and shit hitting the fan as inevitable, but it was always with a tone and attitude that the events unfolding were political or even that they might be orchestrated on purpose. But then episode 7 shows that the entire time, they all knew it was a literal ticking clock and the supervolcano under antarctica was inevitable and they actually WERE certain that Bradford would be "the one in charge when the world ended". The nuclear exchange just being icing on the cake. Everyone could have stayed peaceful and worked together and it still wouldn't have mattered, everyone was still dead anyway.

And that certainty also makes the characters both more sympathetic and more evil at the same time. Like, when Xavier is yelling at Bradford about how he thinks one honest speech at the end makes up for all the lies is REAL because yeah, he knew this was coming for years and never told anyone outside of Versaille. And his only excuse was that they expected more warning in the immediately lead-up to the eruption. He was still gonna leave everyone to die in the dark, he just thought he'd be able to give a few days' heads up when he did it. And considering that Bradford's family owned an oil drilling company and he was used as a pawn for decades by his father and the other billionaires, the whole scenario brings up a real possibility that the end of the world was actually done on purpose to reinvent society in Sanatra's image like how the Fallout TV show revealed Vault-Tec did. She clearly is megalomaniacal and narcissistic enough to do it.

This series reminded me of Lost for some reason. Maybe the way it flashed back for individual characters, but I really enjoyed this show.

Cal did nothing wrong, he warned X. When his wife was going away and said it was going to be 12 days he should have done more to stop her. A weekend? Fair enough, 12 days? No.

This episode and season were Emmy worthy. Finale was flawed but still good. My favorite new tv series.

I think something that makes all of it even more worse is when you realize that the guy who tried to get on helicopter could have. Because the guy who had the nuclear football was cleared for Versailles and got shot. So the Secret Service agent that risked his life to get the president to the helicopter. Could have easily gotten on and gone to Versailles.
