Lorazepam is my best friend during a cystoscopy, at least until something stronger is available.

Cysto is the second most painful thing I've had to endure, exceeded only by the recovery period after successful surgery in 2018 to remove a tumor on the inner surface of my bladder (#3 is the recovery period after a double bypass in 2003). I was getting "scoped" quarterly, then semi-annually, and thankfully, I'm down to annually from now on. I'm almost finished with BCG, too (also painful, but much less so), with one final round of 3 weekly treatments in December.

So, to everyone else going through this: hang in there and focus on the finish line!

Yes the burning pain when urinating will happen AFTER the cystoscope.

Woah, my urologist told me to get a cystoscopy whilst i had cystitis and all these symptoms and i didn't feel right to go for a cystoscopy .

My Mother was an RN for many years. Things may be different now, but she said that an ENEMA was part of the Patient prep for a Cystoscopy. Is that still the case?? Yuck!

Had one. Not a big deal till you have to pee. Burned like a hot poker!

It's not a big deal. Snap really. Feels strange but not painful. Much easier than prostate biopsy.

Practice screaming! (Jk) Actually, the worst part was the “deadening” lube they put in that burned like fire until it worked. Also, the whole time it’s in, you have this feeling of having to pee really bad. BUT, on the whole, it’s better than the novacaine shots I had when I got a vasectomy.

I’ve had over a dozen since the PC, and another in two weeks. They kind of suck, no where nearly as bad as the botox injections, or bladder neck dilations.
