BRAIN TEASER- HOW TO MAKE MONEY WITHOUT TAKING RISK

Hey everyone. To make money and invest like professionals, you have to learn the language of money which is math. So I thought I would put together a brainteaser and challenge you to evaluate a method that makes money risk free. I propose a method to make $10 out of $700 for a month, which is 1.42% or 17.42% annualized without taking into account compounding. This is of course attractive relative to what you can make in your checking or saving account given the recent actions of the Fed which lowered rates to zero.

So is this a new way to print money just like the FED?

Of course, there is something wrong with the methodology and I am challenging you to find out what it is? The reason I am bringing out this example is to highlight the importance of math to evaluate various situations and to avoid scams and bad investments. Math is really the base of making investment decisions. You do not need to become a mathematician, however, you do need to learn the basics of math to be successful in Finance and investing.

110 cannot be considered as standalone in the balance. It's the sum of 110+90. If you repeat the scenario with different combinations like 80 or 70 you will have similar results. Which makes me think the final amount on the left cannot be included in the balance calculation.

Subtract the balances and add the credit. Balance will be zero and the credit generated will be $700.00
