Mozart. 12 variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" - the melody we most associate today with 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. It's amazing to think that the original melody was written only 40 years before these variations were composed (a childrens folk song from France), and today is one of the first and most important melodies we all grow up with - I still remember the feeling of realization that the Alphabet song and Twinkle Twinkle were the same melody! It's quite fitting that one of the most important melodies in human history received variation treatment from one of the most important composers in human history. I hope you have an awesome week ♥

Mozart is a genius. He managed to play twinkle twinkle little star, the alphabet song, and baa baa black sheep all at once.

I can't unsee this piece without thinking Your Lie in April, I know it's repetitive on the comments but that Anime just hits so hard every piano piece they played there hit so hard and the fact They both only played together ONCE Hits so hard.

Imagine it's a kid talent show and the kid says he'll play Twinkle, twinkle little star and everyone's like, oh, how cute, and then the kid starts playing this perfectly and they're all just staring like whoa 😯

Alternative titles/captions for the variations:
Main tune (0:01): Okay, nice and calm... Let's just let them wait...
I (1:01): Alright, let's start showing off now...
II (1:55): Well, time to prove I'm ambidextrous
III (2:43): Okay, now I'll just change up the melody just a tad
IV (3:35): Suspense starts to kick in, still pretty calm though
V (4:26): Okay let's make them think it's almost back to normal. False sense of security, right?
VI (5:11): Time to speed it up a notch for each hand in turn. Have fun following that you idiots
VII (5:56): Kinda like II, but with a nicer feel to it
VIII (6:42): Fuck it, it's Halloween
IX (7:48): Nice little soothing melody then *L O W*, soothing melody then *L O W*...
X (8:36): Haha arms go criss-cross
XI (9:21): Okay fiiiine, I suppose it is supposed to be used as a lullaby... boring peasants. As revenge, this part will go on for three minutes for no reason other than to spite you
XII (12:21): I've been playing for s o o o o o long, my hands are shaking. Gonna make the most of that though

I taught my children about Roman numerals today (they don't learn that in school) then, out of the blue, my eight year-old asks if there's more to "Twinkle Twinkle, little star" than just plunking a single note on the keyboard so we watched this whole video together and he called off the Roman numeral for each variation! Thank you for furnishing a wonderful teaching opportunity!

It's not only incredible that he had the skill to play it but that he could hear such a simple song so many different ways and play them.
