One more thing you can do with callouts, you can embed Dataview queries. I find this useful on my daily note page. For example, I can query for the tasks due today and then use callouts to show/hide the list.

Did they get rid of the Callout Manager plugin?
I found a plugin called 'Callout Manager', but found that it is nothing like the one referenced in your video.
