Captain Hiller looking sadly over the destroyed city is enough to let us know he's thinking of his maybe-lost love, even before his single, simple but very clear and heartfelt line. In response, his bff does his best to lift his spirits, and squadmates' morale at the same time; a true friend.

Fantastic writing and acting. The scene didn't even need to be very long to reveal the heart of the characters' natures and feelings atm. Bravo!

I remember watching this as a kid back then in the theaters. When Jimmy was killed by the Alien enemy I was completely shocked, he was my favorite character of the movie. I remember thinking he was the coolest character.

I think the sequel should have been about parallel stories around the world. Like how Europe or other countries were dealing with it. It would have been interesting.
