2004 Saab 9-3 was not starting, just one click. I thought it was the battery at first, and then the starter, but found out the wire connected to the starter had corroded and broke off. The easy fix was to run a new wire from the alternator to the starter.

An old teacher of mine had a '99 Saab 93 5 speed manual which the starter itself actually burned out, and to replace it was going to cost $1500 since Saab is bankrupt now and parts are becoming hard to find. In the end he decided it wasn't worth the expense and upgraded to a 2011 Subaru outback wagon 6 speed manual. I used to have a a '96 900 S myself and I loved it but then it got totaled.
