Would you upgrade to the Hero 8? 🤔

👉 I was using HyperSmooth on BOTH hero 7 & 8 in this video (8 with boost)
👉 Correction: Hero 8 is waterproof to 10m (not 5m, as I say in the video)
👉 the door hinge will not be a redesign, they just fixed a slight issue on some beta devices. So my point stands of it being a bit finicky to use!

One year ago - Look at that stabilization, thats epic, its like a gimbal!
Now - "It is basically unusable"

after a year this guy will turn off hypersmooth in hero 8 and will tell us that it is "unusable" compared to hero 9.

This is going to be a bit of a rant so please bear with me. I am fed up with all this reviewers that we expect to be unbiased and honest on their review but all they do is be nice to the companies they are reviewing so they keep getting free stuff. It is ok to have an opinion but it is ridiculous to put down the older camera like saying its footage is unusable. WTF! One year ago it was a gimbal killer and now it is awful. You hype everything on the new camera making it seem it is ground breaking when it is not. Dude, you should be saying how GoPro is awful to its costumers for pushing a new camera with features that most likely could be fixed with firmware updates. I dont have kmowledge enough to talk about hypersmooth 2.0 or timewarp 2.0 but grids, new menus and and easier access to features is just firmware update stuff. Of course Gopro wont do it because they want people to buy a new camera. That is just awful man.
And having no case or gorilla glass on the lenses is just small stuff that can be good or bad depending of the user.
This is nothing against your channel specifically as I have noticed the same thing on others ones or maybe even more (you might see this post in other channels) but you should think about what kind of content you want to offer. Real and honest or biased and bought by a big company.

This is a GoPro 7S. S stands for same shit.

Last year when Hypersmooth came out everyone said wow it's so smooth and stable. The Hero 6 is unusable. Now they say the Hero 7 in LOL

I hope to see the software updates move to the 7 as well.

"always level video" (it's just software)
"autocorrect fisheye" (it's just software)
a bigger sensor and 20mp (hardware)

Thanks for the video overview of the camera. Sadly with no external mic support until around Christmas I'll not be buying one just yet.

Taking a closer look at the specifications it seems that GoPro has to deal with huge battery life/thermal issues or a lack of CPU/memory performance:

1) HyperSmooth is not available at 4K/60 in linear view (manual, page 118)
2) only at 1080p the FPS>60 in linear view (p.116/117)
3) to improve image stabilization you should crop the video before the shot (more buffer memory)
