BEST Quality Budget Refractor Telescope

In this video i show how this Refractor has high quality optics for the price it has on the market. It's an excellent entry point for Astrophotography beginners who want wide Field of View although a mount is needed to buy. I use my 6" Virtuoso Telescope Go-to Alt/Az mount which is also an inexpensive telescope and that way i have 2 telescopes for the same mount. The 6" Dobsonian is my recommendation for beginners however if you want to extend your possibilities to super wide field of view, a refractor like this Evostar fits better those needs without breaking the bank.

A few months ago I purchased the Svbony 102 mm ED FPL51 with just 540$ and interestingly now they sell it with just 460$ which really is an unbeatable price. SVBony also sells a 70/420 mm ED FLP51 version with 350$.

The Skywatcher 72 f/5.8 is not strictly an APO. Its what optical designers call a semi-apochromat and others term it a near-apochromat. At short focal ratios, only a triplet will provide an apochromatic image. Many companies market short ED doublet refractors as "APO", but they are not.

I have an old celestron 102mm refractor and I use my phone to take photos of dso’s and the photos I took blew my own mind. Think I have a video of them

Do you prefer using a dobsonian or this refractor for EAA imaging? What do you think produces the best photos?

Great video. Also, I agree it's hard to beat an ED doublet refractor in terms of value. Also I had the exact same Powerseeker AZ as my first scope. The optics of the scope weren't horrendous, that crappy little mount on the other hand really sucked to say the least. In retrospect, it wasn't very good, but it was good enough to get me to purchase a used XT8 which changed everything. With that being said if I ever got a picture like the one you took of the Horsehead with it, I might've crapped my pants 🙂 Yeah it's got a lot of chromatic aberration but you can actually see the horse though a scope that has no business looking at horses!

What would you recommend for a little more money? I already have a 8" and 18" Dobsonian but I'm looking for a different type of scope. thanks
