Which winter jacket is best for you? Watch our buying guide.

The jacket you choose will inherently have its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Insulated jackets are great for low-level aerobic activities, but they won't allow you to control your body temperature as well during high-level aerobic activities. The outdoor layering system offers maximum versatility in temperature control, but the need to occasionally stash unused layers somewhere can be a slight drawback. Keep these in mind as you choose your winter jacket.

you can just unzip the puffie from the 3-1 jacket and you can separate the layers just like a non insulated shell system. All you would need in your closet after getting a 3-1 jacket is a base layer, fleece, and an optional soft shell. Then you have every kind of jacket lol The 3-1 comes with a puffie and a hardshell already.
