It's been almost 20 years, and this scene kills me. That pause and the way he realizes it's her gets me every time.

Quint is such a good character. The man has been living on anger and booze for years trying his best to kill any wolves he comes across. The truth is is his anger was misguided and to accept that would mean letting go of the anger but doing so would mean that he has no more reason to fight. He absolutely can't do it and he probably believes he's not capable. Blue however contradicts this notion. He is hugging the very being he denies and if he ever realized what that means perhaps he would have been able to let go sooner.

This scene always gets me especially when Quint says "Oh my god!" As it truly evokes a sense of realization. It's my interpretation that once he knew it was Blue he was able to see her true form and her pause was her realizing he doesn't just say her name but he actually SEES her.

Man Quint was a man going through the five stages of grief, though he had a hard time later accepting what Blue is, but this scene just shows how sad and hurt they still are, Quint was alone with his sadness but now he and Blue can share in each other’s sadness, but man when he realized that was Blue he also realized that Blue has feelings too and she was just as affected by it all at such a young age.
I hate to be that person but I feel Blue in the manga was better written and reunion with Quint was more emotional idk.
