The last music that film score legend Bernard Herrmann ever composed was the score for Martin Scorsese's 'Taxi Driver'. He finished the recording of the score on December 23rd, 1975, and later that night he died in his hotel room, aged 64. The film is dedicated to him, and in this dreamy opening sequence his smoky jazz perfectly captures the mood of the New York streets at night.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, from a script by Paul Schrader. Starring Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel, Albert Brooks, Martin Scorsese and Cybill Shepherd. Music by Bernard Herrmann.

Bruh.... I remember being up late one night, flipping thru channels and Tax Driver came on. I was hooked from the Theme. Any movie with a Theme like that had to be a great movie. I really hate to know this 'cat died RIGHT after recording this master piece, its crazy.

0:49 even the most minor details in this film are a million times better than anything made today: case in point, the font.
