Samurai wives were expected to defend the home while the men were away. The naginata polearm became very associated with them.

I love how he talks about honor despite the game being about the death of traditional honor.

I think that Ghost of Tsushima shows that honor is found in many ways, sometimes sacrifice of another kind of honor.

Not to mention how absolutely beautiful this game is.

There's no way you played the whole game; both Lady Masasko and Yuna's story and your take-away was still that men should protect women. It's such a beautiful story about breaking tradition and building your own set of values. That was clear from the beginning of the game when he broke his vows/code of honor as a samurai.

Missed the mark here fairly spectacularly. Several of the key warrior characters in the story are women which is not ahistorical. Seems like he read the synopsis did a quick visual scan to see if the protagonist was male and launched this take.

Love the game, just strange to see it misrepresented.

One of the few games out there that is, imho, 100% worth full price.
Loved it.

The major flaw here is that those “quintessential male values” are also important for women. They aren’t male values. They’re human values. You fight to protect the ones you love. First and foremost you secure the safety of those people. No one has ever done anything else.

Did this guy even play the game? Cause the mc ditches "honor" in order to fight the mongols and there are multiple female characters in the game that dont go in line with the idea of "men defending women".

Lmao, imagine playing through this incredible game that has such a rich history and backdrop and your only takeaway is a shallow "Men protect, because no strong female game good"

“Woke games are shit, men are strong, women need to be protected. Ghost of Tsushima is a masculine power fantasy!!”
Meanwhile within the first act alone, Yuna, Tomoe, and Lady Masako are strong female characters lmfao.

Fun fact: A bunch of lefties accused Sucker Punch (the developers of the game) of "cultural appropriation" and said the game was offensive to Japanese people. Meanwhile the actual island of Tsushima made the two lead game designers official ambassadors to Tsushima because it was relatively unknown until the game came out. 😂

Wasn’t Masako like a huge part of this story? The woman who didn’t need protection? This guy really didn’t play the game all the way through

I remember during the Sony event for E3, they had a guy performing with a special Japanese flute for Ghosts of Tsushima. There was "outrage" because he was white. Meanwhile, he's an official master of the instrument.

My guys acting like 2 of the main characters weren’t strong woman

But the story is about Jin going against the Samurai (masculine) values and become the Ghost, which utilises stealth, poison and other tricks, taught to him by Yuna the female thief. It’s a story about where the traditional code of honour wasn’t realistic anymore to cope with the cunning Mongols.
