I can see a clear shadow line separating the grass field but it's not so clear for the Olympus camera at time @2.13. Is it due to the HASSELBLAD Natural Color Solution (HNCS) for Hasselblad?

This comparison is not bad at all. However, you should use best prime lens you could for the Olympus, which in this case was 17/1.2 Pro, to compensate for optical disadvantage. I suggest you do that, and you will see significantly different results.

I am an Olympus shooter - but since 6 months I switched to the Sigma Quattro H with the new Art series and use my Olympus only for videos. I believe the Sigma Quattro H can give the Hasselblad a run - the colors and sharpness of the Foveon sensor are amazing - and the color depth is so huge that I can recover a huge amount of shadows without additional noise. If you had a Foveon sensor once - hard to go back. Sure the raws and development are a pain in the ass, but with new gen. CPU it's not that bad. I don't understand why not more photographers want to use the Foveon sensor - it has a unique three-dimensional effect on the image depth with razor edge micro contrast. That is where I see the Bayer sensor loosing often under extreme contrast and perfect studio conditions - Foveon for the win.

The high resolution mode can give some interesting effects to things like waterfalls

You should compare with Olympus 17mm F/1.2 prime :)

Does Olympus have an option to change EXIF data to "Hasselblad" ? :-))))

I think the Hi-Res mode on the Olympus (or any other camera with this feature) is that it can only really be used successfully in a studio situation with absolute stillness of subject, and using a remote as you did here. It is a pity they could not come up with a solution that would suit landscape photography.

Hi, I have M5 mark II and as far as I know the hi-res is not more than 40 Mpix. Instead, you said is 60. What's the correct resolution????

I think the other thing to do here would be make some A3 prints and compare them

Peter, Have you tried Olympus Viewer 3 with high res mode files? I think that Adobe gives less sharpness than Olympus RAW image conversion application.

Excellent job on an “” out of the box “” and unique comparison. You’ve gained a subscriber.🙂👍

You don"t have to calculate any f number, use the same lens and crop the hell out of the medium format.

I used the high resolution mode on my Olympus Pen F just for fun shooting still life. Set my 25mm at F 4 and it was a great image. The larger depth of field with the smaller sensor was actually a bonus.

In fact, I don't understand the point of your video.
Blad sensor is 1441mm2 and Olympus' is 225mm2 (6.4 times less). It's like comparing a Mini with a Porsche. Nobody will hesitate between those 2 cameras. So who cares to note that in some circonstances the result might be close ?

Nice to see Olympus being able to hold its own against such high end competition!

I'm convinced.

I'll go out and buy a Hasselblad.

You should have compared Olympus handheld to hasselblad handheld

So was the apple the same as the orange, they are the same except not really?

I blew 5 odd mins, must have wasted more of your time though. So there's that.

I have the Pen-f with 12~40mm f2.8 lens and like it. M43 file size, like negative film size, performs for those few times I print large or spend hours tweaking, like in the darkroom. My K3ii sits ready for bigger if needed! The X1D is a wonderful camera as are previous Hasselblad systems, imo. It was fun to consider the possibilities in your challenge! Thanks!
