Would an HNEMP attack have similar effects as to when lightning strikes the power grid or when large lightning bolts strike nearby? I've heard of especially large lightning bolts disrupting electronic devices nearby and cars even if it didn't directly hit the car or device.
Would more diligent grounding of systems help prevent damage from an attack like this?
