With good aftermarket exhaust this is one of the best sounding V8 cars ever imo. Love it.
Much better than RS5 and RS4 B8 sound.

I'm a diehard M3 guy, say what you will.. used to own an E36, now own a 2004 E46 M3, love her to death, she's a keeper. For the longest time, been locked on aiming to get the M2 as my next. More and more recently, however, I've come to really appreciate my B7 A4 Avant Quattro w/ the 2.0T FSI setup, after getting some mods finally done (near $2k worth!).. talk about sleeper wagon on the APR tune! Makes me reconsider saving up for a 4.2 V8 w/ 6-speed gated shifter! I love turbo power delivery, lots of fun, but nothing beats a natural aspirated monster V8.. the sound resonating is incomparable.. V10 sounds like an F1 beast, but the V8 has a super low grumble that can't be replicated!

It’s so nice because there’s so much headroom in that V8 even though it’s cross plane crank not flat plane like the gt350 that revs just as high

I seriously wish Audi would make a new special edition, stripped out light-weight R8 with the current shape, tech and all but with this gated manual and this V8... THAT would be the ultimate pure driver's car, and ultimate collector's item. I'm sure many would pay an extortionate amount for that experience

Really dont know why people prefer the V10... this not only sounds better but also has proper manual and gives way way more fun and satisfaction! This is the one I would like to have... especially if it is the spider one!

Oh the 4.2L FSI, it will be dearly missed. The R8 no longer offers it and the S6, RS7, S8 now have the 4.0 TFSI.
