Sissy played that role so well that every time something reminds me of this movie I can't help but think of her as well as Loretta

At 19:28 they finally tell you that the 'worst' thing Loretta's husband ever did (as per the title) was to threaten to leave her while she was pregnant with one of their sons. In case you didn't want to wait nearly 30 minutes to find out. 😊

'Coal Miner's Daughter' is one of the greatest biopics of all-time!

Everyone in the cast was superb, especially Spacek and Jones, but Levon Helm as Lynn's father and Beverly D'Angelo as Patsy Cline are criminally overlooked.

My mother was born into similar circumstances as LL in eastern Kentucky. My mother was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WW II, and she put herself through college afterward. One of my favorite memories of Mom was the day I drove her to see LL's birthplace in Butcher Holler. I miss Mom very much. Sadly, Mom and I rarely saw eye to eye, but we reconciled on her deathbed. Mom passed away in '88. I miss her very much.😢

My wife’s family came from the hills of WV and one family member had a cabin with no water or electricity. Their walls were covered with newspapers as insulation. The best biscuits I ever ate were made on their wood stove

My Mother-in-law was crazy over Loretta Lynn, especially when she sang duets with Conway Twitty. Looking back, I remember so many great times jamming to the 1970's Country Music Stations when visiting with her, and on occasion, chiding her into dancing the Charleston to different music for us younger folk (at the time). May both ladies RIP as fond memories of both her and Lorretta live on.

So odd that most of these comments make excuses for Doolittle Lynn’s domestic abuse, because he pushed her into the music business. What if he had pushed her into a different career, let’s say to be a nurse? Loretta got married at 13. She is on record stating that Lynn beat her with a belt many times. There’s no excuse for DA. None.

So my dad was in the navy was overseas and was not able to make contact with his dad at christmas time. My grandfathers health was poor. Loretta lynn came through the base on a tour. My dad was fortunate enough to meet her. She asked him how he was doing and when she found out asked for my grandparents phone number. My dad handed it over thinking that was that and that nothing would come of it or if it did someone from her publicity team would issue a general message. Nope he got home to find that she personally called them on Christmas no less.

My dad knew Loretta, he had a gift shop at the Ranch for a very long time. I would go with him in the summers and one day I got to hang out with Loretta's granddaughter. We went to her house (the little brick house next to the mansion) and she was out working in her flower bed No makeup or anything, I was a kid but it was surreal! I also have a photo of him with Sissy Spacek on the set of Coal Miner's Daughter <3

Back in 1980, Hollywood was still making great films. I wish they still did.

She did not record “Stand by Your Man.” Tammy Wynette did.

I think she was younger than 15. She tried to play peek-a-boo when he came home from work. He was mad about it. Well, he picked a little girl.

You didn’t mention another controversial song Lynn recorded “The Pill”. That song got her in a lot trouble!

Cast iron skillets must’ve been the common form of self-defense for women of that time, just ask my grandma. 😉😅🤣

Doolittle WAS a moonshiner. Loretta admitted it in her autobiography "Coal Miner's Daughter". She was the only one who called him Doo. Everyone else called him Mooney. It was also written in Loretta's book that Mooney was 17, not 21, and she was 13 when they were married. He was also in the military.

Fact check: Tammy Wynette sang Stand By Your Man. Loretta did You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take My Man.
