This video will show you how to write down the volume of a cuboid when the sides are given in terms of x. To do this multiply the length by the width by the height of the cuboid. You may need to use brackets if there are more than 2 terms for the side lengths. The final expression may have to be simplified.

So in example 1 you need to work out the volume of a cuboid in terms of x with side lengths 5x, 3x and x. If you multiply all these together then you will get a final answer of 15x^3.

In example 2 you are asked to find the volume of a cuboid of edges 4x+1, x-2 and 3x. Again multiply these 3 sides to give 3x(4x+1)(x-2). You may wish to expand the brackets and simplify.
