Making your own speargun bands is an essential skill and it's pretty easy to do yourself. Learn some spearfishing basics in this video and why I do things the way I do. I know I've made a video like this in the past but with new divers getting into the scene every year it was time for a refresh.

Some of the above are affiliate links, meaning Amazon will kick a small percentage back to me if you purchase something through the link, you don’t even have to buy any of the listed products - just buying anything off Amazon through the link is enough. It doesn't cost you anything but helps me in a small way to keep making videos.

My first spearfishing book came from someone in the USA but his advice was invaluable. Relax, slow everything down and be one with your environment. The big ones are smart for many reasons 😊

I think you made a video many years ago on bands. Good to see a refresher video. 🐟

Sigalsub rubber is touhg stuff. I use Cressi Pure (14mm Brown and 17mm Khaki) and I strech them to 360 and 320 respectively. Great video, as usual!

Thank you for this, I'm about to send it for the first time this week. I'll save this for when my new bands start dying on me out.

Good advice to the newbies Dan. Making your own rubbers up is paramount to being an A grader. Unfortunately they don't all make it 😊

yeah, I also bought that horrible 14mm rubber with the TINY hole. I actually took a drill bit and expanded the hole right at the end so that the inserts could get started, and it worked.

Nice. I appreciate your neatness and attention to detail. Why not opt for the constrictor knot over the clove hitch?

if you could do a short video, with calculations, for inverted rollers that would be awesome! :) i just built my own wooden inverted roller, and it took me weeks to experimentally get the rubber lengths just right, to avoid rubber snapping or bridles pulling out.
great work though! your rubber band videos are what I play every time when I have to re-tie my bands after not doing it in a while and forgetting the needed knots.
thank you Daniel! love your videos! :)
