📍 Dahuchun (for fried pork buns) Zhejiang Middle Road No.136 (People's Square Subway Station Entrance & Exit 15 Pedestrian 480 Meters), Huangpu Shanghai China (south of Nanjing road)

For the egg and chive pancake, the vendor is across the street near the fried pork buns place, serving fresh pancakes out of a stall. Look for locals ordering from her window stall

I’ve been to where you’re talking eaten everything you’ve shown in this short. One thing I love about Shanghai is that you can wander down almost any street and find really cheap food made fresh. There’s open markets in a lot of places that open early in the morning for breakfast. Only thing is the $4 dish you showed is actually kind of expensive compared to other things you can buy off the street. But it’s a restaurant so hey, gotta do it for the experience.

Go to Canton 8 if you're still there! The Runan Street location is a 2 michellin star restaurant but only costs around <200 RMB per person, and it's easily the best cantonese food I've ever had.The vibe is pretty casual and there's no reservation needed, too. The egg custard buns were so good they made me cry in the restaurant.

I hate when people say, it only cost me $3 without disclosing that the people there only makes $3-$7 per day. So ignorant.

I used to not like Chinese food because I’m from America and live in a small town so it’s really hard to find a good place where the food tastes authentic. I wasn’t going to give up though, but then one day, one of my good friends invited me over for lunch and she’s Chinese. her mom made the most delicious Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. It was very fresh because she has her own garden in her backyard. I’m just happy that I didn’t give up because those restaurants were not giving the food the justice. The food is absolutely delicious. 😊
