Great video. Just FYI, the lid of a parmessan cheese jar (the type with big holes under the snap lid) fit perfectly onto a regular mouth mason jar. This would make a convenient dispenser for your crushed pepper. Shake and enjoy!

Great vid, thanks for sharing!
A tip if I may add, after I pick my peppers I slice length ways to take out the seeds. Some like em, I however do not. After slicing I smoke mine on the grill with Mesquite or Hickory chips. While smoking, they dry out at the same time. I then  use a pestle and mortar to crush them. I like mine a little more powdery than flakes.
This smoked Cayenne/Chilli powder mixed into a Gorgonzola/Alfredo sauce is to die for, one of my favorite pasta dishes.
Thanks again for posting and greetings from Germany

i tried a similar method recently based off your concept except i cut the chilies in 1/2.. to dry them out quicker to my amazement it was a total success.. after crushing them i put it through a blender to powder it .. .. the taste is absolutely the best .. i think the oven cooking has brought out all the sugars

Been drying peppers this way for years and doing a small batch tonite even though I did buy a dehydrator last Fall... Glad to see someone else that skips the gloves! Had a bumper crop of Scotch Bonnets last year but when I need to grow them again I will be sure to use gloves! My oven runs a little hot and 175F is as low as it will go so I crack the door a tad to avoid cooking my harvest. I do use a plastic bag for crushing if I'm going to put the pepper flakes directly in a shaker to avoid getting shakes of nothing but seed, LOL!

Awesome thank you so much. I thought I planted banana peppers and I had four plants of these come up this year and had no idea what to do with them, great idea, have them in the oven now! Thanks so much!

I made dried thai pepper last week, it took 4 days to completely dried (sundried, 28-33°c). Someday I'll try your method to make dried pepper. Thanks for your informative video

I go the old way & air-dry them - in one piece, with the top on. I have some from 4y ago, so I can definitely say, that`s working perfectly. ....And to all those who wanna try this process -. especially if you`re gonna crush the peppers - do yourselves a great favor and WEAR GLOVES!

I used crush red pepper for lots of things.  I like to season meats with it, greens, green beans, almost any vegetable.  crushed red peppers really add the flavor.

Very useful video. This is the same oven dehydrating process I use for making deer jerky, as shown in a video on my channel. Here's a tip that helps when using this process.

I have found that when drying items in my gas oven the heat is a bit more uneven than in an electric oven. So to be sure the temperature from the gas flames doesn't go too high, I simply put a folded pot holder into the oven door so that it will stay open just a small amount letting some of the heat vent out. This will keep the heat a little below the 170 minimum setting and avoid any charring, burning, or actual cooking of the food.

Thanks for sharing this video.

Greetings. I love the color too. It makes the pasta that much better. Oh good point. I dont wear contacts. You can put them in a zip lock bag and crush them that way too.

Keeps moisture in the soil. Keeps mud from splashing up on leaves. Splash often transmits soil born diseases. And it looks nice.

I don't cut the tip of my peppers off, I snap the end off and it usually snaps free of the pepper, leaving me the whole pepper with no waste. It all dries the same.
you have some beautiful peppers by the way! Great Job!!!!
