Hope:
The greatest of all pure traits. Hope is what allows us to look to the future with a smile and, no matter the Fear, Despair or Hate in our lives, see the beauty in our existence, even if only for a short while. As Bravery is the antithesis to Fear, and Love is to Hate, Hope is to Despair, and Hope is the only one soul that can truly create the future. Bearers of a Determination soul look to the future as a project, a toy in their control, but bearers of a Hope soul look to the future as a utopia, thinking of the lights to grace our world in the near future. Hope can save even people stuck in the deepest darkness, it can give people a reason to keep going no matter what, Hope is what keeps humanity ticking...

Without Hope, we are but shells of ourselves, but with Hope, we can become greater than we ever dreamed of

Hope:
The ultimate soul trait that brings all souls together. How can someone with a Bravery soul stay Brave? How can someone with a Justice soul still believe in Justice? How can someone with a Kindness soul stay Kind? How can someone with a Patience soul stay Patient? How can someone with an Integrity soul still be Integral? How can someone with a Perseverance soul continue to Persevere? And most importantly, how can someone with a Determination soul continue to stay Determined? Simple answer, Hope.

Hope is what keeps the other souls motivated for their goal. Hope that things will be better. It forces the soul stay hopeful that they are doing the right thing. That they are still determined for the future and that they are still kind for others

It is also a powerful soul against Fear, Despair and most importantly, Hate. It overcomes the burdening sorrows of despair, the living nightmares of Fear and the dark screaming shadows of Hate. It helps an individual to stay hopeful that things will get better for them and for the world.

ERROR. SOUL UNIDENTIFIED. COLLECTING INFORMATION: This soul seems to contain an extremely high level of determination, and has an extreme level of power surrounding it. This soul seems to have traces of every light soul type inside of it, and this soul has never been seen in this generation of mankind. The color opens the possibility that this is the same trait that a hero of mankind and monsters once had very long ago.

Hope, an ephemeral power turned to when all else is lost. Humans have often sought guidance from others, but when that fails, they feel an internal need to stop and hope. Sometimes the world is too complicated to be fully understood through a single pair of eyes, and we all need help from time to time.

The humans that fell into the underground all had different hopes, different dreams. Chara, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly when their plan began. Did they fall into the ground with the intention to start the second Human Monster war? Or did that idea only dawn on them later once Asgore ate buttercups? The other seven humans, Patience to Justice, and even Determination, within all of them lied a sliver of hope, something to hold onto when nothing else made sense.

Asgore too, was a deep thinker. His thoughts were simple, but they were profound, he wanted his people to have hope. In the end he prioritized their happiness over his own, and he would perform grizzly, devilish actions to give his people that hope. He never wanted power, he never wanted to hurt anybody, he only wanted his people to be happy. In the end, he lost whatever hope he had for himself and gave up, pitifully waiting for the end to come to him. Be it the last human to die, or the first human to finally kill him, he would shut his eyes to the idea of a happy ending until a child with immense hope would fall and remind him of his children before.

Hope.... Determination raised to its highest degree. No one is born with with this trait, because it has to be earned. To gain enough DETERMINATION to not only face current obstacles but to face the future ones with a smile on their face and without gaining any LOVE. They have the will to not just spare everyone but to SAVE everyone. Their capable of healing broken lives, breaking barriers and even attaining godlike powers. White is the combination of colors and the hope soul has all the traits in equal amount. It is truly mankind’s savior and champion. Where does this soul lie? The angel that made the underground go empty. A humble child. What was their name again?

The urge to continue no matter how disbelieving a situation is, much like Determination, but without the will to control but the will to see joy. Bring joy. Bring happiness and see it into the future.

Ahhh the fact that it starts off with Flowey's theme is so beautiful ;w;
A wonderful reminder that deep down, Flowey is still Asriel, with as much of the white soul as every other monster. Hope... love... compassion... and it turned out okay in the end, right? Well, at least for a while.


Onto the theme, the twisting of all the negative souls' themes into harmonizations with Hope's theme really shows the potential of Hope. Genius! I got goosebumps listening to this, in a good way. Tying this back to Flowey, he went through all the negative traits, didn't he? The sudden cold neutrality of being soulless... The fear of being stripped of compassion for all of eternity... The despair of never being able to love again, trapped in a delicate body that refuses to die... And the _hate_ for it all! Flowey almost lost all traces of hope, descending into a bored state of insanity, looking for entertainment to pass the time of a soulless eternity. But in the end, with the help of Frisk, Flowey was restored to his true form, albeit temporarily. And after this, it changed his view of the game forever, begging the player not to reset, not the change all that everyone went through. The theme of Undertale plays in this theme, embodying the hopes and dreams that all of monsterkind gripped firmly while trapped under Mt Ebott.


White is the most uniform shade/colour there is, yet the most "universal" colour out there. In science, it is the combination of all wavelengths, perceived as white. The maximum RGB value in a computer, the colour of the sun and moon. It also represents purity, and isn't that what hope is made up of? No matter where hope is in, it always has the same purpose, the same outlook on the bleakness of the world, the same belief that things will turn out better. When all perception of colour is lost, white can still be seen. When all purpose has disappeared, when everything is turned upside down, hope can still be seen, as it does not always play by the rules of logic.


At first, I wondered what was the difference between Hope and Determination, or the difference between Hope and Patience. But Determination lacks the uniformity that Hope has, whilst Patience does not necessarily have the perception of Hope. However, Hope can be found in every trait out there (aside from Despair, Fear and the other "negative" traits), and it is made up of every trait. The strive to keep going in Patience... Laughing in the face of darkness, like Bravery... Holding onto the Integrity of all you are... Persevering when everything goes wrong... Continuing to be Kind to your mind as not to sink into Despair... Moving with the purpose of Justice even when all ideas of right and wrong are gone... this is Hope.


Fear, Hate and Despair, among all the other demons are the spirits released from Pandora's jar. Hope, "Elpis, " was the only spirit to stay behind, to remain within the Souls of all of us. It's the only thing that can keep us from descending onto those spirits and demons.

It began with true neutrality, made a dive bomb in mood and rose to Hope itself. Huh. Quite the series.

Ahh, Hope. Where do I begin with this trait? People who have this trait are some of the most optimistic people you’ll ever meet, always believing that, no matter what happens in the now, the future will be better. While Determination has the power to change the world on a whim, Hope usually manipulates things behind the scenes to achieve their visions for a perfect world.

Hope souls are an anomaly, much the same as Determination in that regard. It’s so rare to see a Hope soul last long, as most people with this trait have their hopes and dreams crushed by the cruelties of the world.

Hope is not turning a blind eye to the world. Instead, much like Purity, it sees the world for what it truly is, and chooses to focus on the good in life, and in that sense, Hope is a powerful friend to have. Hope can be stubborn in their quest to make the world better, and sometimes their desire to make the world better is misguided, leading to more people hurt than helped. But more people with this trait are those with good intentions.

Hope is a subset of Determination. While Determination works to achieve present goals no matter the cost, Hope will look to the future, facing it with a smile on their face. They will face whatever the future throws at them without stooping to the level of Determination, because they know that they can make change without the need for murder.

Hope souls are extremely rare, and the World Magic Association has sent out search groups to find any Hope soul alive today and bring them back to the University to be trained, so that, one day, they may make the world a better place for all of us.

In all seriousness this was really splendid to listen too. I'm loving your souls series they all sound unique but use the "best friend" tune which really gives it that undertale feel.
