Former TSA Officer here. In my experience, the SSSS is rarely random. I wouldn't worry about that unless you were suspicious for any reason.

i got put on it randomly and i was so nervous bc the security lady said “come with me.” and nothing else and she grabbed my hand and started speed walking and my stupid self is thinking i’ll get kidnapped. my dad asked the lady what she was doing (as a sane person would) and she told him and he followed her and she did a full pat down, questioning, and all this stuff. keep in mind that i was flying back to america from spain and so im in a foreign country not knowing how to act. im obv nervous bc i feel like i did something when i didn’t but yeah so that was traumatizing

SSSS usually appear on your boarding pass if you have travelled to Pakistan or other Muslim countries

Time management for the first one, get to the airport about 3 hours before you flight. Second, drink coffee before the flight either from home or buy it from the airport.

I knew that 4xS mezns extra screening but once I got SSSS on my BP and I passed through security as normal no padding down, no extra screening of my hand baggage, etc....
