New Products from Plant Compounds

In daily life we are surrounded by fossil raw materials: from products in our cars, insulations in buildings to kitchenware like pan handles.
#Lignin, a basic component of almost any plant that grows, is proving to be a promising resource to make the shift in Europe´s #manufacturing industry happen.

Within the Bio4Products project Hexion, a global leader in thermoset resins, has developed new lignin modified moulding compounds. Via injection moulding these compounds can be transformed into any number of daily life products.

The new compounds contain a large percentage of #biobased content, which was not previously the case, while maintaining excellent mechanical properties. By limiting the use of fossil resources this innovation could help to reduce the environmental impact linked to a whole range of business-to-business and consumer products.
