Hammock Camping Backcountry Solo Under a Tarp Shelter

Atlas dog and I (Brett) go solo hammock camping out in beautiful fall weather. We attempt making pizza in a cast iron skillet, enjoy camp and sleep under a tarp shelter for the night.

I am impressed with the first attempt at pizza. I do a lot of dutch oven cooking. You did great

Trick is to get a good little fire going and use the medium size stuff to burn down and make coals for cooking rather than having a flame that comes up to your cast iron. Otherwise, it looked really good. I sometimes mix my dough together the night before heading out and just sticking it in a fridge. It'll rise and I can take it with me on my outings to make bread, pizza, etc. Your pizza pepperoni and melted cheezy ball looked pretty delicious though. Your pancakes looked better than the ones I made on a hike last week. Pancakes generally taste great despite being a little "trail ugly." lol

That video is awesome! I definitely like the way you heated up the top for the pizza! Where did you get the Dutch oven frying? I saw a video where they pre heated both top and bottom first, They loaded every topping on the raw rolled out dough which they had laying on parchment paper. They then took and picked up the parchment paper and lowered the pizza in the pan, leaving the parchment paper under it. They then put the pre heated top on and cooked for 15 to 20 min. No burned pizza just some burn on parchment. Might be worth a try?
Now I need to get one..As always, thanks for sharing your cool ideas!

I just starting watching seen 6 of your video's. I enjoy watching but damn. Can you make something a guy starving in the mountains for a wk might say that was great. Instead of making him think which is a better option eating your cooking or starving to death.
