How to draw a ellipse or oval

Easy trick to draw accurate ellipses and ovals.

Omg! Thank you sooo much! This is huge for me, I’m an acrylic artist and many times I need different sized ovals for my paintings and I was relying upon oval stencils but now I can make any size on my canvas. I just need to think of a way I can anchor the string down without making a hole in the canvas while using the tacks. I might have to make the oval on a poster board material, cut that out and then onto canvas. Only problem will be when i cut the oval out I can’t cut like a laser so there will be an uneven oval with little unintentional lumps and bumps, around the edge that will be a problem when using my airbrush to paint a solid color And hank you again !!!!

I remember asking my high school math teacher how to do this 55 years ago. He did NOT have an answer. This trick is amazing! How did the old timers ever come up with this!
