There is something tremendously important to be said right now about kindness in the face of cruelty.

My brother who was 4 years older than me had a lovely teddy! I decided to give the Teddy a nice bath in the sink! I didn’t know it was stuffed full of sawdust !

I was born with a number of physical issues and my dear mum and dad cared for me in a way I could never repay.
The very first Teddy I was given was a little blue bear. For decades he travels with me until an egregious break up was topped off illy the destruction of Blue.
I am nearing 60, now, and still mourn the loss of my beloved bear.

The same mindset did this to Paddington.

Sadly, life has taught me that it is not something that can be ‘fixed’.
Some simply have an evil, destructive streak.
And yes, it is evil, in my eyes. 😔💔

Thank you Prof Tim, kindly said.
I too feel the loss of my childhood teddy bear which was ever present in my bedroom till well into my 40’s, a dear friend’s sweet dog chewed its head off! Sentimental memories are vital to our mental wellbeing.

Good morning Professor Wilson! That was beautifully said. Hope and decency should always be an aspiration, should be practised.

Sorry to hear of the losses of your memories. Mine's an old lamb, who's accompanied me four thousand miles - I couldn't bear to lose him (no pun intended).

I have heard your regret at losing a soft toy animal from childhood expressed by so many Proff. I am a soft toy animal collector, and I have heard a lot of this. soft toys are memories, are links, are sometimes the only link to someone gone. I remember stories of soft toy bears *usually stieff* being given to someone as a child, taken to war, and surviving that war, and being found in auctions, soft toys live on. soft toys are an enduring thing. Paddington is lovely, and I have a soft toy representation of him standing near me now. I hope whomever did this vandalism are found, punished, and are told by the courts how their vandalism could be interpreted by others. Paddington's story lives on, which is great.

The Queen mum and Paddington walked off into the mists together. ❤ Long live Paddington and the Queen.

There is such a thing as 'bringing the service into disrepute' that these individuals may well face or have faced in military court. The services treat such actions very seriously, and penalties may be far more severe, and would be in addition to those issued in civilian court.

The services expect and demand a higher standard of conduct in and out of uniform, as actions of individuals such as these, reflect on the service and are felt by all who serve and have served.

It's because of a bear that I visited China! When I was 4-6 I read all the Rupert Bear books and within most of the stories was a Chinese Pug called 'Pong-Ping' who sometimes visited China. I became fascinated through the books with fireworks (I visited the Standard factory); paper (I made some long before Blue Peter did); printing (at 16 I bought a small printing press and began a business printing letterheads). 50 years later I visited Shenzhen and didn't see even ONE pug! I see that Paul McCartney loved Rupert too. Of course, I had a bear called Rupert who had a few sets of clothes made-to-fit by my mother. I couldn't master Mandarin though - though I've eaten lots. Happy days!

Anybody remember the RAF serviceman that went missing a year or so back who they think climbed in a skip whilst drunk on the way back to base, probably fell asleep in that skip and ended up in the crusher on a back of a lorry, being being drunk makes you do daft stuff, best avoid it.

👋 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gold star Professor Wilson. A very tender way of telling he truth. You are very prolific for a chap who supposedly endures a broken neck. Thank you.

I know I missed the point with my post. Sorry. I started from the feeling of being a stranger that this little bear from Peru felt and that's why I found the Queen's speech in 2011 so relaxing. I meant no offence. ❣️

This behavior is disgusting, and those RAF engineers got off way to easy for it. Peddington was not a part of my childhood, but we got similar Icons in Germany, and I empathize with rage people must feel.
Being drunk is not an excuse - not even when young (and those two were 22 years old each) - it's no secret alcohol makes you stupid - drinking it doesn't absolve you from acting stupid - be it driving or vandalizing.
