6 Phrasal Verbs with PICK! English Lesson | New Vocabulary

In this lesson, you’ll learn 6 phrasal verbs using the verb PICK.

Phrasal verbs are groups of words in English, made up of a verb and either one or two particles. A particle can be either a preposition, like ‘up’ or an adverb like ‘together’.

Phrasal verbs are frustrating!!
Often, one phrasal verb can have more than one meaning.
Often they are idiomatic, so the meaning is not obvious.
Not every phrasal verb follows the same rules - some are transitive, some are intransitive, some are separable or inseparable, or both!

But ignoring them is NOT an option, because they are soooo common. They come up in conversation all the time.
You’ll hear me use them in my lessons, all the time!

Make sure you check out the transcript on my blog to see just how many phrasal verbs I used during this lesson!

Phrasal verbs in this lesson:
- Pick at
- Pick up
- Pick up on
- Pick out
- Pick on
- Pick off

Thanks for the lesson, Emma!
You know, in Russian we have a phrasal verbs, too. Their also call like a slang. All words in one expression in one time can be phrasal verbs. It's very difficult translate to english becase sence will be lost.
For example...
Just imagine conversation between three persons. If somebody asks somethin and answer will be not exact then somebody of three person maybe say "да нет, ну я не знаю" (da net, nu ya ne znayu). It mean that person is doubts in right answer, but he don't know how it'll be right and he proposes to think one more time. In English it'll be translate verbatim like "no, well, I don't know". It's no make scence, right yeah? :)

Hi Emma; my beautiful and nice teacher! I thank you for this and all your videos. You always do an extraordinary job. You always make your videos in a very professional way and I admire your charisma, your simplicity and your beauty. I can not help but notice the way you dress; always with elegance and good taste. I admire your makeup a lot because it is always discreet and natural. Your beautiful voice (and the clarity with which you pronounce each one of the expressions and words) together with the expression of your face in each moment of your videos helps me a lot to understand everything you say. And finally; but no less important, your smile and the light of your look cause me to think your lessons so brief that I always want more. Your lessons are short, but with very good content.

All of the above; I thank you and I admire you very much. I wish that happiness and health remain with you during a long life.

Receive from me a strong and warm hug from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
