Every time I fear death, I listen to this. My main fear of death is eternal punishment. I consider myself an atheist, but sometimes when I think too much, I get dreadful thoughts about how I would be punished forever just because I didn't believe in some deity. But, for some reason, this brings a sense of closure to my pessimistic self. Thank you, Rusty.

“If I was a believer, and lord knows I tried” omg I can relate to that. Christians that look down at atheism forgets to realize how most of us have in fact gone through a period of trying to prove ourselves wrong. I tried my best to make myself believe that there’s a god up there. But I can’t deny that it’s not even possible in the first place. That’s called fantasy. I cried myself to sleep multiple times wanting there to be a god. I wish there was. But there isn’t. There’s no proof of some guy in the sky. I would love to go to heaven. It sounds amazing. It’s almost like... IT’S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! I still went to church for about 2 and a half years after I became an atheist trying to prove myself wrong. But at the end of the day, when I ask my pastor how we know a normal person didn’t write the bible... all he said was, “we just have to believe” that’s when I lost all faith. Needless to say, I cried myself to sleep that day for sure. Don’t act like we think there’s no god as an excuse to do bad things. We have legitimate reasons to believe he doesn’t exist and all you have is a book.

Religion is a funny thing. Humans do things for certain reasons. Religion tells you that you need to do good things to be rewarded with some sort of afterlife. The afterlife helps people make peace with death. People do good things to be at peace and because it is what the church tells them will gain them acess to the afterlife, which makes them happy. In my opinion, most truly good people are agnostics and atheists, because they do good things of their own volition. And they realize that death is inevitable and they move on with their lives. After all, if we were imortal, what would life even be for?
