Add and Subtract Complex Numbers (Example Problems) | Complex Analysis

How do you add and subtract complex numbers? I previously did a lesson on just that, and presented four practice problems at the end of that lesson. These are the solutions to the four problems.

In this math lesson on adding and subtracting complex numbers, we go over the following problems. I encourage you to try each one out before viewing its solution.

1) (4 + 10i) + (2 + 3i) = ?

2) (-3 - 8i) + (7 - 2i) = ?

3) (1 + 2i) - (-5 + 6i) = ?

4) (0 + 4i) - (-3 - 8i) = ?
