in all honesty, companies do pay per view for ads and other advertising, there is money circulating, and that website you found also shows that there is money in this, however it really does seem like they're taking advantage of the users. and website like that making laptop slow is kinda sus, maybe they are mining bitcoin in the background hahaha.
