while the tech is cool it seems like it will be distracting. you have to look and read for least tree seconds to find what you need that means it is no different from using a cell phone. with buttons, we get use to their locations and often operate with just sense of touch while focusing on the road. its really cool thought, I'm just puzzled at how well it will workout. they need to have a demo of one of their guys drive it around while using the system for a week or so to see how well it works and how long it take on average to get use to it

After 39 years they finally redesigned it I'm sure my mom will trade in her 2010 xc90 for it.

Sold! I'm getting the T8 Hybrid! I just wish it was a diesel Hybrid, the gas mileage would be even more fantastic!  I love the fact the technology will accept updates.

Finally, it comes to the market. but to be honest, it doesn't look as cool as concept, which is REALLY beautiful. but this one is quite alright.
Inside design is better. Anyway, I hope this could a new start of Volvo to the future.

Thanks for posting this !!! I know I'm getting ahead of myself when I say can't wait to see what Polestar can to bring to the table for XC90.... Performance figures are close to V8's and we all know the V8 is on it's way out in the near future !!

I would like to know wether you will be providing navigation system in english as standard option or it will be specific to countrywise say for eg if some foreigner buy this car in Russia so will you provide him option to get navigation system in english or he has to get it done from after market whereby he will be taking big risk of spoiling the beauty of the car as well as tempering with the warranty of the car related to the electronic provided by you i think this is a very important aspect for people to buy this car who are living in some countries where english language is not so common to use please give us your comments.

Anyone notice how he had to hit the same button multiple times? I currently have Lincoln Mytouch and It sucks. wonder if this is any better.

Touch screens, unlike hard buttons require the driver to look at the touch screen to ensure he touches the right places. With physical buttons in the dashboard it is easier to reach and go by feel. For a company which puts safety at the forefront I am surprised so many features are now in a touch screen. It's great if you are the passenger, or the driver when vehicle is stationary...but driving I feel this is a bad idea....

I'm sorry the touch screen is cool but I'd rather have physical controls to control major functions.  It's distracting to have to look at a screen to control basic stuff while driving. I hope this has redundant  controls for the radio  and HVAC.  Manufacturers forget we also use our sense of touch. Otherwise cool suv

Wonder if they added an anti-fingerprint coatings to the screen. I had an old HTC phone that had that and it made streaks of dinger grease a thing of the past

Let's hope the DIM printed circuit board is more robust than the rubbish fitted to the V70!

"What most people dont realise is some volvo cars are extra safe in terms of crash simulations, BUT This only mostly applies to the driver NOT the passenger and rear passengers i.e your kids will have LESS protection in a crash in some volvos than most normal cars. look it up in encap ratings. Volvo show you your children in a rear facing position child seat, which is naturally the safest position for your child up to age 15 months, but they dont show you the results of the forward facing child seat which would be totally different. The same goes for the Audi Q7, most people dont know that it is also nothing more than a pimped up dangerous go cart on wheels and one of the most dangerous suvs on the roads today for both the passengers, driver and pedestrians. But most people like to ignore the reality. Unless the senior technical safety expert and the CEO of volvo crash test a car sitting as passengers in the back live and release this on youtube or TV dont beleive the hype."

I don't think you know so much about the safety work Volvo does. Volvo is the safest car in a real life accident, they do not do safety in terms of rating. They do it for real life situations. Volvo has conducted research on over 40.000 crashed Volvo cars to further make the future cars more safe. The old XC90 earned Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS 2014, a car that is in construction 12 years old!

"And lets face it, the screen will be great fun when your standing still. But while driving on the highway I cant see someone messing around with this screen, its very dangerous akin to that of texting while driving."

That's why Volvo uses Head-up display, voice command and information displayed in the center cluster in front of you so that you do not need to take your hand from the wheel when driving.
