I even stopped training calves on leg day because I experienced this. I do calves on a day where I’m training the upper body so my legs are fresh and not exhausted. And man do I feel the difference.

Do calves on non-leg days so you don't have to worry about this since most of us consider the other leg muscle more important.

That's why despite a lot of my early training being under body builders, I've always been a strong advocate for holistic and dynamic exercises that train a number of different muscles and facets instead of muscle specific exercises.

I took this to heart when I was younger. It allowed me to move nearly 2000lbs with my calves. Unfortunately, long breaks and ego sessions like trying to hit previous maxes after not hitting the gym for extended periods of time led to injuries that will probably never allow me to get back to that level again.

I occasionally do a 12 week Calf focus training where; I train calves first in the workout. Love Diamond Calves!! Ty!!!! Love your channel!!!

I’d be lucky to even train calves at all, sometimes i’d just forget these thing exists in my intense leg day full of squats and rdls.
