Good to see some actual decent coverage of the Faroese independence movement that thoroughly covers the reality on the ground. Also impressive that youse know of the 2018 debacle we had over the proposed constitution!

I dont want Faroese independence, one the main reasons is that i think of Denmark as my second home, even my grandparents on both sides are against it.
You can also endup with a kind of oligarchy as many small nations have, where the richest families control national policy, which isnt a a big problem right now but it is noticible on the Faroes. Last thing is that i would rather be under danish rule then indirectly by countries like the us, China or Russia.

I wonder if Greenland gained independence would they play football in Euros or North American Gold Cup 🤔

Sure the Faroe Islands could become independent, but could they really become independent? Population wise there simply is not enough people for specialized education or specialized healthcare. But maybe by keeping education to a few relevant fields and letting people croak who gets an uncommon medical condition and the Faroe Islands can be truly independent.

But if the Faroe Islands declare independence, how long until each of the Faroe Islands declare independence from the brutal, centralized rule of the other Faroe Islands?

No thank you, thinks are pretty good as they are and learning Danish isn’t as bad as some people will have you think all jokes aside.

It wouldn’t make sense from a Faroese perspective because then they would have to have their own military and military’s are expensive

United Kingdom should join the Faroe Islands. They can complete infrastructure projects and sell their fish. They would make good leaders.

Its not Norwegian i myself am Faroese and the people drawn on the roundabout are dancing a faroese folk dance.

The faroe islands are a country thrown around like a cheap whore between other countries. Independence would be good

Sadly Independence is moving further and further away, I believe Denmark doesn't want to lose its colonies. And now that the trade with Russia has been severely limited I think it will be very hard to cover the losses next years budget negotiations will reveal to what extent.
