So, if I understand this right, a political party inside Transnistria a breakaway region got mad after it sounds like Moldova took steps to treat it like a foreign entity tacitly acknowledging its independence?

>We don't want to be a part of Moldova
>Okay, then as a foreign nation export/import duties will be charged

Even seperatist states have seperatist states. Its like if the shetland islands gained independence from scotland

What the remaining 35, 1% said? That they dont care, so it should remain like it is or something? Bit of weird you ignored the last group.

That has to be one of Europe's most known separatist states, just saying the opposite doesn't mean you're bringing people new information.

Frozen conflicts, Russian military troops and Soviet-era ammunition depots - that’s the Russian imperialist style when they fail to occupy and annex territory

I think Cyprus only joined NATO because Turkey & Britain Themselves are Nato members - who in turn already occupy parts of Cyprus

Gaguzia will be the newest independent country in Europe if Moldova reunify with Romania. According to the Moldovan constitution, Gagauzia holds the right to self-determination in case of Romanian reunification.

Joining the Empire Unholy is a terrible idea. Best to stay independent.

As the Soviet Union fell as well as communism in Romania, Moldova started to adopt the Romanian motto and name of language. USSR immediately felt threatened by possible unification and they sent Russian troops into Transnistria to "support the locals there", as Putin later would do in Crimea and Georgia. The Moldovan army with Romanian advisors was not able to beat them, and the conflict became frozen. It's telling that this happened between Moldova declaring independence from the Union and being recognised as independent. So the most productive part of Moldova is de facto autonomous, and its economy and media currently run by a monopolist conglomerate belonging to a former KGB officer turned billionaire oligarch who supports the sole party in power (which gives his companies tax exemption). Russian troops are still stationed in Transnistria. Moldova is basically being held hostage from joining the EU or NATO, it's super blatant and surprising it doesn't get more attention. This is also the front that would most likely trigger the much talked about possible future war with NATO if that would ever happen, because of Romania's connection
